This month I was / had planned to do an improve shoot with Marie Jean Saxton at the Boardroom Studio in Derby. Sadly she was not all with it and gave her apologies that she could not make it on the day. A professional model (take note Kay Carter!) we had enough time to find a replacement model. It was only a two hour shoot with no makeup artist. Just the model, Amy and myself. With the valuable help from studio owner Phil Lynam he saved the day and pushed the lovely Iyisha Rose our way. She was brilliant. Such a great natural woman who looked great in front of the camera. The theme of the shoot was really to test out a few looks with different lens filters so most if not all the pictures are blurred. By design rather than an accident. The filters used were a UV filter smeared in vasoline. Another filter used was a Tiffen Black Pro Mist ¼ and a Lensbaby Velvet 28 Lens, all to good effect. Also in the galley are some oddly coloured images that were taken using an old digital camera, chipped to do only Infared shots. The results are odd. This might be best used on landscape.
I would love to work again with this great model and give her the full works, the four hour shoot special complete with Shadrine the makeup artist. So watch this space and thank you to all involved in this shoot.
There was not supposed to be a photo shoot this January as I needed a rest, but I got itchy fingers. No that does not mean I went out shoplifting, rather I called up my old fried Monalisa Moyo to see if she was up to an impromptu shoot at my house. And she was thankfully.
These pictures were taken in my sparse bathroom which is safe to say is not the parlay Ritz, but with some powdered milk in the bath water and on a cold day outside, we got the task done in one take. Thanks then to lovely fashion model, my friend, Monalisa Moyo for her time.

It was good to get back into the studio again with athlete and champion boxer Nicolie Campbell again. Its so hard to take a bad picture of this man. And on top of this shoot regular Monalisa Moyo came along as well to lend a helping hand … and arm … literally ! The images were all taken early on a Friday morning at The Boardroom Studio in Derby and I must mention a special thank you to studio owner Phil Lynam for creating some of the amazing lighting you can see on the pictures.
so a big shout out to Phil as well as Nicolie and the lovely Monalisa Moyo for her help.

The second shoot of the month took place in The Boardroom studio in Derby with another new model calling herself Moyolistic. She was the runner up in an African Beauty contest and was amazing in front of the camera. The shoot was set into two half's with the first half being a more ethereal look with a wedding vail and peonies provided by my friend Chris at Flowers To Yours. Colour graded blue in Capture One and Photoshop the set is titled 'Délicate,' and has its own sideshow to compliment it.
The second part of the shoot was based around the Panton Colour of the Year which is Yellow, so all things yellow were in employ. The original pictures were a lot darker, but I warmed it up in editing to gain a pleasing result. Thanks then to model Moyolistic for being great. Thanks also to Shadrine at Ka'Vour Beauty for her amazing makeup as always and to studio owner Phil for the use of his pad. Enjoy the results.
We were graced by having the amazing fashion model Monalisa Moyo for this shoot, and its always a pleasure to get her in front of the camera. We got some seriously good images that day. So thanks to everyone who took part in the creation of these pictures.
We have not seen Tanya (who eagle eyed views may recognise her by her other names?) for a long while, but it was good to see her modelling again … if only briefly. You looked great Tanya x
Thanks once again to the model, and to all who helped create these images.
Very few shoots are not complete without a showing from this amazing model, Tyler Dyce. I have now photographed her getting towards sixty times. And still going strong. So here is Tyler in beauty shot mode. Thanks to Tyler and Karen Hegarty MUA for her hair and makeup.

I have been wanting to do this for so long. An Elizabethian Shoot. If you google ‘Elizabethan portraits’ lots of pictures come up and, not surprisingly they are all featuring white men and women. So I wanted to do something a little different, and photographed the two stars Monalisa Moyo and Tyler Dyce. The photography was ‘Rembrandt style’ lighting with one fresnel and the costumes were provided by the amazing Complete Costumes, of Kidderminster, Worcs (seriously check them out !). Thanks then to the two models for the work and to makeup artist Karen Hegarty MUA for all her hard work and Lee Henshaw for his studio hire. Yet one more off the bucket list of shoots and things to do before I die !!!

I put a post up on a modelling website a few weeks back and got some interesting people respond to my post .Barring in mind I asked for models without tattoo’s - So why then did I get a ton load of models covered in the bloody things ? Obviously both reading and understanding are an alien concept for some people? Anyway, out of much of the chaff came this great model and I thought I would give her a chance. She as reasonably new to modelling but shows such promise. So I asked her along to the Tyler Dyce / Monalisa Moyo shoot to try her out in front of the camera. She did not let me down - and here are the results. There is also a big debt of thanks here to the amazing hair and make-up by Karen Hegarty MUA. for all her brilliant work on the day. So It is fair to say I am so pleased with these shoot results and hope to work with this amazing model again soon. …. Welcome to the team Zhane Harrison.
