Portraits – Floating Heads

Something I would really like doing more of is portraits of normal people. I am not too fussed who, just as long as they are not family pictures of kids. 'Hey mister, can you take a picture or two of my little Charlie, he has such a sweet face ….' NO, NO, NO ! Been there, done that and hated every minute of it. Adult portraits please, the older the subject the better as the elderly have interesting faces that tell stories of their lives. These portraits were taken and edited in a 'Floating Heads; style where just their heads and not their clothing or surrounds are viewed to focus the eye on the subject matter. I know it might not be everyone's taste, especially in monochrome , but I think it looks good and would hope to do more.

Digital Art Updates … The lost files

I don't know if you can recall a few months ago when I said I think I might have deleted some images, at least I have misplaced them on the computer? Well they turned up again and here they are. They are essentially re edits of older photographs given a very grainy textured look to them in Photoshop. Please enjoy.

Singer and Model Alexis Victoria Hall

Here was a shoot twenty years in the making.

Singer and model from Manchester Alexis Victoria Hall and I always said we would like to work with each other, but never got around to it. Twenty years passed and we finally got to get the job done. Alexis came down to Derby where we got the gang in to do the hair and makeup. Sadly on the day both model and makeup artist were not feeling their best with body pains all over. But we all crammed everything into an hour and a half shoot to get something out of the day. And it worked. Alexis is a true professional and a joy to work with. She even got her record company to give me a tune I could use on the slide show. So thank you then to all involved Alexis Victoria Hall and her record publisher 'Soul n' Pepa'. Thanks also to Shadrine at Kavour Beauty. Phil Lynam at The Boardroom Studio in Derby and my dear wife Amy for all their hard work. you also to Amy and Retoucher Sophia for their help as well.

Nuria Do Prado Real Shoot

This is a kind of once more around the block shoot with my old and dear friend Nuria Do Prado Real. She still looks as lovely as ever and it was fun to work with her once again. Thank you also to Shadrine at Ka’Vour Beauty and Phil at The Boardroom Studio, Derby. See you all in the new year I hope?

Avant-Garde and Portrait Shoot with Tyler Dyce

Welcome to the first studio shoot of the year starting off with model for all seasons, Tyler Dyce. This was an Avant-Garde themed shoot which for the most part worked, that was until one of the lights blow up. We had to go back to a mixture of natural light and fresnel for a portrait session. Tyler was brilliant as always and brought her boyfriend along to the shoot which was great as he turned out very helpful on set as well as being a genuinly nice guy. So thanks to model Tyler Dyce. To makeup artist Karen Hegarty MUA. To Angelo and to Lee Henshaw for his studio. A special thanks also to my wife Amy for her little fashion creation she made for Tyler. I really appreciate that. Thanks and love x
