October Flower Updates

Our friends at Brambles Florist and Flowers to yours who have provided us again with some great selection of flowers to work with. A special stand out is the kangaroo feet flower. It is so photogenic and easy to edit, the shape is everything. Thanks then to Chris and the ladies at Brambles Florist and Flowers to yours and Amy for her help.

That is it for this month. Apologies for the shortness of it. Please don't let this put you off coming back next month.

Until then, take care and see you soon x

Still Life Update

There is a bit of a fruity feeling to this selection of Still Lifes. Amy and I set the camera up to take a snap of one of my fathers big tomatoes. Then giving it a highly saturated look in photoshop..The tomato was taken using only natural light and textured wallpaper as it backdrop.

Here also are snaps of pairs and a vine of tomatoes, once again made to look more in your face with colour and loosely inspired by Andy Warhol's pop art pictures of Marilyn Monroe and the such.

Project – 'Infrared' Update'

Seeing as how its Summer, it was a good excuse to brush off the cobwebs from my two Infrared Chipped Nikon's and have a go at taking some strange picture colours. Some of the views are taken of my parents garden, as you can see their conservatory in the background, but most were taken of the Northamptonshire countryside. One of my favourites is the colour Infrared picture taken of a stream running under a bridge, from the bridge looking down. You can see the read moving in the current and its has an unearthly beauty about it. I have put the image as the first one to see in this gallery. I made a cock-up with the black and white infrareds as I had not got the camera set to RAW, only jpeg. So limiting what I could do in post editing. Never mind. I will not make that sloppy mistake again.

Amy's stuff for the streets of your town site

She has been at it again !!!

Amy has been out and about, snapping away at people and places and doing a brilliant job at it. I especially like the man with his two dogs in a shop and another picture with a large young man playing with his mobile phone outside a shop door. She is brave because she goes up to people and just asks them if she can take their picture. Sometimes they say no, but most times they agree and she gives them a business card with the web site address on it. So thank you Amy.

If you want to see more of her work please visit the Streets of your town web site. x

March Flower Updates

There is a mixture of flowers I got from the Brambles Florist and Flowers To Yours. this month, along with some random bits Amy found in the hedgerows. So we have quite a lot to feast your eyes on. I would really like to photograph poppy's, but they are so hard to transport home as the often wilt before reaching their destination. I suppose the trick might be to go see them in situ on a clear and calm day.

So thank you then going out to my friends Chris and the ladies at Brambles Florist and Flowers To Yours. As well as a nod to my wife Amy. Well that's it for this March's updates, I do hope you enjoyed them and see you again next month.

X

Flowers extra

My father purchased my mum a bunch of flowers of the kindness of his heart. First time in over sixty years of marriage. His generosity knows no bounds or he has a guilty conscience about something? But seriously here are three takes of some of the tulips he purchased in abase taken in the window of the hall way. I have added them to the Garden page in the flower edition.

November Flower Updates

Its getting mighty close to Christmas season, the season when Mariah Carey comes out of her cave to warble at us again. But not before we have just had Halloween and Fireworks night. And that is represented in the Brambles flower shop who have once again provided us with some really great flowers to work with. I am especially fond of the three football shaped plants on sticks that I have photographed before on their own and singulary, but never as a set of three. I even added them to the ever growing carousel pictures on the landing page of this web site (its the third picture in!). So a big thanks then goes out to our friends at Brambles Florist and Flowers to yours, Chris and the team for all of their input. Thanks also to Amy for helping with the shoot and organising the preparations to the shoot as she often does.

See you all next month for a festive season offering. X

Still Life - Update

Carrying on from last month still life subject where I captured some big red tulips from Mercybongos garden, here I captured them again when they had defiantly gone over, but look very much like a butterfly. Also during the shoot Amy suggested I shoot some of the many vases we have kicking around and then turned a sepia colour. Here are the results for this month. I will have to send Amy out again soon to look for more interesting old vases she can find in charity shops,

October Flower Updates

Now that the weather has cooled down a bit its far easier to work in the home studio without poring with sweat all day long and generally making life uncomfortable. So I went to the Brambles Florist this last Friday to get some flowers for inspiration and capture and as always they did not let me down. So a warm thanks to Chris and the ladies at the Brambles Florist and Flowers To Yours for providing me with an interesting selection. A thank you also to Amy for her help on the day of shooting.

See you all next month x

September Flower Updates

We have a bumper month of flowers this month as along with the regular fresh bunch of lovely flora from the Brambles Florist. We also have some others that I photographed from months before and saved as extras that I am now cashing in. As always it was great to see my friend Chris at the shop and catch up with him, as well as get something new to shoot. Check out the Brambles Florist and Flowers To Yours online for a great selection of product that is environmentally friendly and pure quality. So thank you to Chris and staff and Amy for helping me on the day.

December Flower Update

November Flowers Update

As I mentioned before, its a good job my flowers providers have not closed down during the covid-19/0.2 lockdown we have just been through. They gave me an amazing choice of flowers to choose from, and to which I hope I have done my best. So another shout out to Chris and Wendy at both Brambles Florist and Flowers to yours A thanks also to my wife for the couple of Dahlias she throw in for good measures. x

December Flower Update Extra

This is a few extra pictures of the clematis plant I got from Blossoms Florist this month and give them a sort of painting look to them.
